Messer: Learn365 implementation

Messer Benelux, a leading player in industrial gases, faced the challenge of replacing their existing Learning Management System (LMS) with a more flexible and user-friendly platform.

In 2024, Messer selected Learn365 (formerly LMS365) as their new learning solution, with The Learning Hub as their implementation partner.

Why did Messer call on The Learning Hub?

Messer required an LMS that seamlessly integrated with Microsoft365, improved user experience, and allowed for efficient management of learning processes. A major challenge was ensuring accessibility for both office- and non-office-based employees.

One of their key requirements was tracking employee progression within function classifications. At Messer, workers can transition to a higher classification level every few years. To qualify for a higher level, they must complete specific training courses and pass a test to demonstrate their readiness. Learn365 now plays a crucial role in managing this process by tracking completed courses and test results.

To streamline the approval process for external training requests, a tailored solution was developed using PowerApps and Power Automate.

The solution

Messer’s learning offer consists of a blended approach, combining different training formats to cater to various learning needs, such as online training, instructor-led training (ILT) and coaching-on-the-job.

To further improve employee development, Messer introduced an onboarding program for all their employees. This program provides new hires with a clear overview of the mandatory courses they need to complete, such as Messer Compliance, SHEQ Introduction Training, 360° Messer and so on. In the future a similar program will be launched for non-office workers.

By centralizing this onboarding process within Learn365, new employees have a structured learning path from day one, ensuring a smooth and efficient start within the company.

The implementation was carried out in phases, with Belgium going live first, followed by the Netherlands. This phased approach ensured a smooth rollout and allowed for refinements before expanding further.

The Learning Hub remains committed to supporting Messer in further optimizing and expanding their Learn365 platform.

LMS is a hands on tool where both the “learner” as the “departmental manager” can either enlist into a course or have an overview on what courses the team has followed. This in only a few clicks.
